From the U.S. Federal Election Commision:
Linda Ronstadt's Political Contributions (over $200)
.
Since the US Federal Elections Commission makes public all contributions to political campaigns over $200 back to 1977, it's now possible to look up this info on line. There's a search engine that lists contributions by celebrities. You can view Linda's contributions from 1979 to the present at the link below. In addition to whom she chose to support, I find it interesting how she describes her occupation. Sometimes she's an employee of Normal Viewing (her video company), sometimes she's self employed...sometimes singer, sometimes entertainer. All of these of course being correct.

From the main page of Linda's contributions, you can click on the link in the amount column (unless the date is too old or too new) to view some more details directly from the source documents. Privacy issues aren't really a concern in Linda's case, as the address listed is always that of her attorney, Jess Morgan, whose company also represents many other celebrities. BTW, you can find his name on many of Linda's newer CDs.

I'm particularly fascinated by Linda's 1988 contribution to "Independent Committee on Presidential Qualifications" in the amount of $5,000. If you think back to what was happening in her life at this time, it becomes even more interesting. An exact-phrase google search on that term only turned up that Penny Marshall and Linda Ronstadt had made contributions. None of Linda's choices are especially surprising (no contributions to Republicans), but I thought some of the Primary candidates were interesting. At any rate, since this is all public information, it seems appropriate for it to be mentioned here.
